Blow away the cobwebs at Bugsworth - it's a great place for a country walk, Marple boasts not only a fine lock flight but a truly magnificent aqueduct, You can explore much of the Peak Forest Canal by bike with this cycle trail. Starting and finishing at Marple this route follows the Peak Forest Canal towards New Mills returning via the Goyt Way. The Upper Peak Forest is lock free (although there are some loft and swing bridges to work (all but one is now electric) and winds its way to a double terminus at Whalley Bridge and Buxworth Basin. Following a period of dereliction in the 1960s, restoration was begun by local volunteers andthe length between Marple and Dukinfield was reopened along with the Ashton Canal in 1974.
